Road Closures for Christmas Lights Switch On

The following road closures will be in place on Friday 3rd December between 4pm and 9pm for the Melbourne Christmas lights switch on:

  • Derby Road - From the junction with Chapel Street to the junction with Church Street
  • High Street - From The Melbourne Inn to the junction with Church Street
  • Potter Street - From the junction with Derby Road to the junction of The Mews

The public toilets have been temporarily closed due to serious damage caused by vandalism. The matter will be discussed by the council to consider the next steps. Tree works at the Old Burial Ground

The Parish Council will undertake works to the trees at the Old Burial Ground in Castle Street this autumn.

Following consultation with the South Derbyshire District Council tree officer, and in agreement with the Parochial Church Council, works will be to sympathetically prune native trees and remove trees alien to the area.
