Melbourne Parish Council has opened a book of condolences for people to sign following the death of Her Majesty the Queen. The book is open at the Melbourne Assembly Rooms this weekend 9am to 5pm at the entrance by the Melbourne Room, and 8am to 7pm Monday onwards in the foyer by the library.

The council's Summer Sports Scheme is returning in August for the first time since the pandemic. It will run on the first four Mondays in August, and will take place between 2pm and 4pm at Melbourne Junior School. A list of activities booked and further information will be put up shortly.

During the heatwave, all residents are asked to leave out their bins the night before they are due to be collected.
With record temperatures forecasted, South Derbyshire District Council staff will be out a lot earlier than usual to carry out the usual bin collections in order to avoid the hottest part of the day.
