Melbourne Cemetery

The Cemetery, located on Packhorse Road in Melbourne, is owned and maintained by the Parish Council whose mission is to provide a respectful and dignified environment for the interment and remembrance of the people who lived in the Parish. Visitors to the Cemetery are welcomed and asked to respect and share the pride taken in its appearance and maintenance.
In 2014, Melbourne came second in the UK & Ireland Best Cemetery Competition. Melbourne Parish Council is responsible for maintenance of the grounds and Garden of Remembrance, burials, interments, and permissions for the erection of memorials. Safety Checks are undertaken on headstones and memorials as part of an ongoing Health and Safety procedure.
The Old Burial Ground is owned by the Incumbent and the Melbourne Parish Church Wardens, but the maintenance of the grounds is the responsibility of the Parish Council.
